Wage: $22.80 (2025 Rate)

BASIC FUNCTION:
To assist the Recreation Coordinator in the planning and implementing of summer camp programs and to provide a quality program experience to children
Minimum Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in working with youth ages 11-15.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in youth programming, development, adaptive recreation and community resources.
- Strong understanding of the physical, emotional and social needs of youth.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR & AED Certification
- Demonstrated safe work practices
- Valid Class G driver’s licence and acceptable driver’s abstract
- Member of Parks and Recreation Ontario
- Experience with Active Net Recreation Software System
- Safe Food Handlers Certificate
- Support the objectives and philosophies of the Camps as established by the Parks and Recreation Division through quality programming, leadership and excellent public and staff relations.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of the County of Brant Summer Camps
- Assist the Recreation Coordinator with staff scheduling
- Supervise, direct and provide leadership to Sr leaders, camp leaders and all volunteer staff.
- Provide an inclusive and educational program environment for program participants and staff.
- Maintain a good relationship with the Recreation Coordinator, staff, and volunteers.
- Maintain a good working relationship with other County of Brant Programs and Facility staff.
- Present oneself as a positive role model for all staff
- Attend all staff trainings and staff meetings as required.
- Report any potential safety hazards, accidents, or problems immediately to the Recreation Coordinator.
- Be available as a knowledgeable resource to the participants, parents/guardians, and staff.
- Ensure the protection and safety of staff/volunteers, participants and public that will participate in Camp programs.
- Work with the staff of the Every Kid Counts program to offer camp programs to participants with special needs.
- Complete all administrative work on a daily basis at camp.
- Take responsibility of any problem that may arise during a designated period and deal with each accordingly.
- Other duties as assigned.
