BASIC FUNCTION:
  1. To assist in the set up and maintenance of a camp program for the County of Brant.
  2. To organize and implement games, arts and crafts for the camp program.
  3. To provide a quality program experience to children reflecting the HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. To have an understanding of child development and foster the healthy child development of campers.
  2. To support the objectives and philosophies of the Summer Camp as established by the Community Services Department through quality programming, leadership and excellent public and staff relations.
  3. To display knowledge, skills and abilities which provide competent leadership in specific camp activities.
  4. To assist in the design, promotion and implementation of the Camp Programs, provide LIT/Volunteers development, guidance and opportunities.
  5. To be available as a knowledgeable resource to the participants, parents/guardians and staff.
  6. To ensure the protection and safety of the public that will participate in the Camp program and use the community facilities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
  1. To arrive at the facility 15 minutes prior to the start of the programs to set up for the camp participants.
  2. To ensure the protection and safety of the public that will participate in the Camp program and use the Community facilities.
  3. To display knowledge, skills and abilities.
  4. Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to LITs/Volunteers throughout the summer.
  5. To provide resources and knowledge to include active lifestyle components within the daily camp activities for the participants.
  6. To attend and participate in all staff training programs.
  7. To maintain a good working relationship with the other County of Brant sponsored programs.
  8. To report any potential safety hazards, accidents or problems immediately to the Senior Leaders
  9. To assist in the duties outlined by the Senior Leaders and Recreation Coordinator.
  10. To present oneself as a positive role model for all staff and campers.
  11. To take responsibility of any problem that may arise during a designated period and deal with each accordingly.
  12. To respond promptly to all County communications, within 24 hours.
  13. To provide feedback to the Senior Leaders for the camp year-end report.
  14. To respect all County of Brant Facilities and maintain a clean camp environment.
  15. Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
  1. Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C & AED.
  2. Current Vulnerable Sector Police Records check
  3. HIGH FIVE  Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification
  4. Experience working with children and experience in program area.
  5. Organizational and communication skills.
  6. Exhibits a high degree of initiative and self-direction.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast passed team environment and independently.
  8. Dedicated to a high degree of professionalism and seeing standards of excellence.
Other Pertinent Information:
Working Conditions: Camp programs are offered in various schools and community centres.
Hourly Rate: 20.68 (2025)
Start/End Date: May to August
