Reporting to: Aquatics & Active Living Coordinator
Location: Paris Community Pool and Splash Pad  

Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Certification (NL), Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor, Standard First Aid with CPR “C” and, Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor are mandatory for this position and must be submitted/attached to your application.  

BASIC FUNCTION:
  • To assist with the instruction of swimming lessons at the Paris Community Pool and Splash Pad and complete general facility maintenance tasks while becoming familiar with an aquatics workplace.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. To assist the full-time aquatics staff in ensuring the protection and safety of the public that will use the Paris Community Pool & Splashpad facilities.
  2. Cooperate with the public, staff, and program participants. 
  3. A basic knowledge of the aquatics program and participation in a recreational setting in the past is necessary.
  4. To be available as a knowledgeable resource to the participants, parents/guardians, and staff.
  5. To provide student/participant support, demonstrate skills, and work one on one with participants.
  6. To help collect and clean up lesson equipment and complete general maintenance tasks as assigned and within trained abilities. 
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
  1. To arrive at the facility 15 minutes prior to the start of the programs to set up for the pool users.
  2. General supervision except those of a lifeguard.
  3. To maintain a good working relationship with other County of Brant sponsored programs.
  4. To maintain a positive representation of the County of Brant, Paris Community Pool & Splashpad.
  5. To assist staff with splashpad and perimeter checks.
  6. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Police Records Vulnerable Sector check.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR level C & AED.
  • Lifesaving Society (LSS) Assistant Swim Instructor, LSS Bronze Medallion or LSS Bronze Cross are all assets.
Duration: June to August (Please note mandatory training for the assignment will occur prior to start)

Wage: Please note this is an honorarium position, not an hourly wage.

Hours:  8 to 12 hours per week  #LI-DNI
