REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Enforcement and Regulatory Services
LOCATION: Initial placement - Burford Office

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Police Foundations or equivalent
  • 2 years of relevant law enforcement experience
  • Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Provincial Offences Officer Designation or ability to obtain
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion while complying with all applicable privacy legislation
  • Ability to organize work and resources in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software applications
  • General knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act, Municipal Act, Administrative Penalties, Municipal Freedom of Information and Privacy Protection Act, municipal by-laws, Provincial Offences Act, and demonstrated safe work practices and working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Familiarity with legislative and regulatory provisions governing automated speed enforcement and other camera-based violations  
  • Ability to travel between County offices and worksites as required
  • Satisfactory police records check
Assets:
  • Experience in interpreting and enforcing bylaws and/or provincial legislation
  • Working knowledge of Automated Speed Enforcement Regulations, policies and procedures.
Duties:
  • Review evidence to investigate potential camera-based infractions and apply applicable by-laws and legislative requirements to determine if infractions have occurred
  • Organizes evidence documentation to ensure all relevant information supports the issuance of a Penalty Order. Reviews equipment records and photographic evidence of alleged offences under the Highway Traffic Act.
  • Issues penalty orders which include verifying registered owner information using ARIS, printing and mailing penalty orders using specialized equipment.
  • Prepares MTO and Ministry of the Attorney General (MAG) reports and updates databases as required.
  • Completion of certified statements
  • Communicates with local Police, MTO, MAG and other agencies as needed, in addition to working in a coordinated effort with multiple internal departments
  • Use evidence, discretion and consider mitigating circumstances when issuing Penalty Orders
  • Verifies and ensures the equipment used for each infraction has a proper and current certificate of accuracy dated within the regulated timeframe
  • Respond to public inquiries and provide clarification of by-law regulations and processes related to automated enforcement when required
  • Ensures confidentiality throughout all processes
  • Maintain accurate records with a high level of attention to detail
  • Due to operational requirements the incumbent must be available to work afternoons and weekends
  • Other duties as assigned
Annual Salary Range: $68,760 - $80,426 (Job Grade 5) based on 35 hours per week – Under Review
